WFYS-13 About the time NK hosted an International Event

 In 1989 it was the official capital of NK, which is Pyongyang, that held the 13th World Festival of Youth & Students, 1 year after the South's capital, Seoul hosted the Summer Olympics.

This looked a lot different from others given the difference in customs, 

The culture of NK spread for a short while during the 90s (which only 90's kids remember)

Many pirate stations broadcasted the event alongside the official broadcaster (televised in 1080i , perhaps the first time this resolution was used)

The Exodus of Khalojheous occurred at this time  for an unknown reason

HRH Princess Glos almost resored the crown but due 2 China's Unmentionable Event , it was called off for another 45 years

The 19th-century-style  yet avant-garde "oekri-n'khoshi" attire was alien  2 the visitors , used 2 the "bg hair" & "shoulder pads" of the era.. also inspiring fasion that only 90s kids will remember.

More cost effective & cheaper than the 1988 Summer Olympics by far & also much more spectacles & free access (hosting the event costed a quarter myriad guineas & 84 shillings given good preparation)

Elgyn Abessious  has bidded Pyongyang for the 2033 WFYS but  Midis Uhassa says that 2045 is a better timeto host the WFYS there
